Why yes, this is the least updated blog in history, why do you ask?

by jb4t5

Hey folks, jb4t5 here… are any of you still here? No, not you spambots, I’m talking about real people.  Meh, it’s OK, we’re still in alpha.

Anyways, we’ve got an all new b0yk3n’s blog for your reading pleasure today, I’ve been digging around the net since i had it reconnected, and have found a few gems I’m gonna report on, barring another ISP disconnect.  Also,I’ve been thinking, instead of trying to be an “insider on the front lines of the internet”, I’m just gonna report on things I find interesting, regardless of how old they are (well, not ALL YOUR BASE old or anything like that, just not brand-spankin’ new since I still have to work for a living.) Until next post, later BFGs!!

p.s.

Yes, I know it’s been nearly 3 months since I updated, but my family and life are more important than a virtual place right now; and until I can devote the time needed to make some revenue, this is what you’ll be seeing, I sincerely apologize to anyone who really likes this site, though i know there are few of you. -Josh Battin (jb4t5)

Quick Poll

by jb4t5

I, jb4t5 am a huge anime fan, but I never got into it until I was older because of the circumstances in which I grew up.  In the short (the last decade) time that I’ve had access to anime and manga, I’ve become fond of a few series, I’ve recently had some spare time on my hands and decided to start watching the Miyazaki films since netflix offers them on instant watch.  Below, I’ve listed some of my favorite series and features.  I’m always interested in hearing what you have to say, so feel free to chime in on this article in the comments below!

Below are my faves, if you think I’m missing out, add your own in the comments!

New Mortal Kombat short has the net in a buzz!

by jb4t5

In one of the finest examples of viral marketing ever, a short film taking the Mortal Kombat universe into the gritty, real-world, dark knight-esque, genre that a lot of movies have been going in lately.  And not to be undersold with it’s hard-edged style; it stars Michael Jai White (Spawn) and Jeri Ryan  (Star Trek: Voyager), among other notables and the production value seems high.  More after the jump including the short. read more…

Mega-projects would be good ideas in the far-off future

by jb4t5

This company has its sights set high,  like to the moon high.  In fact, they want to put a giant solar power plant on the moon.  Shimizu Corporation is a civil engineering company based out of Japan that has been around since the early 1800s.  They build very imaginatively designed structures including bridges, corporate headquarters and banks.  Though, this entry isn’t about those small fry projects, this is about their proposed mega-projects that would take billions, nay, trillions of dollars to build and would end up being some of the greatest undertakings of mankind.  Come on in, I’ll tell you a little about these ideas…

Manga Anyone?

by jb4t5

For those of you who like to read manga, but can’t afford the cost, I’ve found a place to read all of the Fullmetal Alchemist series.  It’s the steampunk/20s-30s styled tale about the two boys who try to resurrect their mother and adventure/tragedy/horror/fun ensues.  It’s anime form aired on Cartoon Network a few years back.  The entire manga can be read here.  There are also a lot of other manga at One Manga, so check ‘em out and thank me later in the comment section!

(scanning manga is not recommended, as it could be considered piracy, but you won’t get in trouble for reading them after someone else scanned them.  ;D   )

Slingers is a must-see show…when it’s finally released

by jb4t5

A quick blurb about a show I hope gets made.  I may even get cable again if it does just to watch it.

The Show is called Slingers and is set in the future (as is most sci-fi)  it features a decent cast and a fully-realized futuristic world with a history, developed characters,  holo-HUDs and high-tech heists involving hacking, subversion, and some nifty spacewalking.  In production now, according to the production company handling it, Sleepydog.  Like I said, this is a quick blurb, but I do have some stills and a video for your eyes!

So, is this like when hold music stopped being Kenny G.-esque?

by jb4t5

Just found this site, TheBest404PagesEver.com.  This is either a great idea, or one of those flash (no pun intended) in the pan places that will end up fading into obscurity.  I hope it doesn’t, some people went to a lot of effort to make these 404s and some of them are decent, some are wtf, and some are downright hilarious.  Hit reload to get a new one if you hadn’t figured it out.  I clicked the “Parent Site” button and got this- http://nottarga.com/news/.  It’s someone’s blog about Half-Life² and the Source Engine.  Anyways, it’s worth a looky-look.  I’m gonna head back after this post and try to see how many there are.
